What is a Internet Food Service Intermediary or IFSI?
An internet food service intermediary (IFSI) is an entity that is registered with the California Department of Public Health which facilitates the sale of home cooked meals by home chefs offered in microenterprise home kitchen operations (MEHKO) through web or mobile applications.
There are several requirements and responsibilities that IFSI’s must adhere to under the California Retail Food Code (CRFC) Chapter 11.6 which include:

IFSIs must obtain a registration for the California Department of Public Health.

Inform microenterprise home kitchen operations utilizing the IFSI website or mobile application of all requirements.
